WOMEN represent less than 25% of the retirement planning sector in South Africa–08 May 2013 | Staff reporter
This is according to the results of a new study on behalf of the deVere Group, which showed that more than half of those women surveyed communicate with their financial advisor only once a year, with nearly a quarter “never” communicating with them.
Among those women who responded were between 51-60 years old, the picture becomes even more gloomy, with only 12% of this age bracket, many of whom are on the cusp of retiring, currently seeking any kind of retirement planning advice.
While women under 40 years old are better prepared, representing 64% of those who completed the survey, only 16% of all the women surveyed were “very happy” with the earnings results from those investments.
